Newsletter April 2026

By   9 April 2026

Welcome to the second SIGLOG News issue of 2026!

As anticipated in the January issue, from now and for the next three years we have two new column editors: Sławomir Lasota and Deepak Garg have respectively taken the place of Mahesh Viswanathan and Steve Kremer in the Automata and in the Security & Privacy columns. Furthermore, also Joost-Pieter Katoen decided to step over from his role of Conference Report editor, and Marco Giunti agreed to take his place. First of all, I wholeheartedly thank, on behalf of all the SIGLOG community, Mahesh, Steve and Joost-Pieter for their precious and generous work done in the past years. Also, I would like to welcome Sławomir, Deepak and Marco and wish them a fruitful and lively activity in their new roles, with the aim of making SIGLOG News more and more a place where our community can express and present its research interests. Let me also take this occasion to encourage all of you to contribute, by also directly contacting the column editors and proposing possible columns.

This issue has some interesting content:

  • First of all, I copy here the call for nominations for the Alonzo Church Award 2026;
  • Then, Marco Giunti presents an interesting report on ICFP/SPLASH 2025 written by the two General Chairs Ilya Sergey and Charles Zhang;
  • Finally, we wrap up this number with the latest issue of SIGLOG Monthly, prepared by Elli Anastasiadi.

Enjoy reading!
