Welcome to the last SIGLOG News issue of 2026! After the summer break, in which many of us attended conferences and other events, we are all back to our duties. I hope this issue of SIGLOG News will be an enjoyable reading during the restart of our usual activities.
First of all, after the usual letter of the SIGLOG Chair Anuj Dawar, we present a new column, that hopefully will attract many position papers and raise possible discussions in our community. The new column is about Logic in Education and will be run by Thomas Zeume (Ruhr University Bochum), the new chair of the SIGLOG Education Committee. It is launched by calling for contributions about “Learning and
Teaching Logic in the Age of AI”, but any contribution on the larger way of learning and teaching logic will be welcome.
Then, this issue has the following interesting content:
- First of all, Sławomir Lasota presents an Automata column, written by Denis Kuperberg and dealing, in a fresh and pleasant way, with the possible applications of automata in the video game industry.
- Then, we have a Verification column presented by Christel Baier and written by Vladimir Stantchev. The article discusses how formal methods can be used for reasoning about accountability in agentic systems.
- Finally, we wrap up this number with the latest issue of SIGLOG Monthly, prepared by Elli Anastasiadi.
Enjoy reading!
