Welcome to the third SIGLOG News issue of 2026!
In this period full of conferences and events, an important change took place for SIGLOG: after many years of service and after many hard-fought battles, Catuscia Palamidessi is leaving her role of SIGLOG Chair, leaving the role to Anuj Dawar. I personally thank Catuscia for the work she has done and for the support she gave me while editing SIGLOG News in the last 4 years. The same applies to Andrzej Murawski, who leaves the role of Vice-chair, after being for many years the editor-in-chief of SIGLOG News. Andrzej was another reference person for SIGLOG and I personally was very supported by his experience and availability. His place will be taken by another SIGLOG’s pillar: Prakash Panangaden.
In what follows, the two chairs will elaborate more in detail on this passage. Then, this issue has the following interesting content:
- First of all, Sławomir Lasota presents his first Automata column, written by Shaull Almagor and dealing with some recent breakthrough results concerning determinisation of tropical weighted automata.
- Then, Marco Giunti presents a report on POPL 2026, written by the General Chair Sandrine Blazy; remarkably, the last POPL edition covered in SIGLOG News was POPL 2017!
- Finally, we wrap up this number with the latest issue of SIGLOG Monthly, prepared by Elli Anastasiadi.
Enjoy reading!
